Low-Moisture Mozzarella, Sliced

Directions


  1. Preheat the oven to 450ºF.

  2. Toast each roll and reserve.

  3. Heat a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the extra virgin olive oil, garlic, and onion, and sauté until translucent.

  4. Add the mushrooms and sauté until all the liquid is released, then add the white wine.

  5. Add the tomatoes, oregano, and crushed red pepper and simmer for about 5 minutes, adding the fresh basil at the end.

  6. While the sauce is cooking, layer 1/4 of each of the meats on the bottom half of each hoagie roll.

  7. Spoon some of the sauce and mushrooms over each, then top with 1/4 of the mozzarella.

  8. Return the sandwiches to the oven until the cheese is melted and lightly browned, then remove from the oven.

  9. Top each with the top half of the rolls, slice in half and serve immediately.
